My wife is in one. She did manage to stay at home for a few years, with an aide coming in to help around the house that we had to find ourselves. But she has dialysis three times a week, our car is nearing its end of life, and there is NO transportation available around here. Also I ended up in the hospital for a quad bypass 2 years ago. Long story short, the first nursing home she ended up in was a real hellhole, almost killed her, and it was a 50 mile round trip for me. We had the police in, State in, nothing changed. They always knew when an inspection was coming, prepared for it, and everything went back to normal right afterwards. Finally got her in a fairly good one across the State line, but the owners there are always trying to cut costs, they are short staffed, and the good people leave because they are out straight. As it is only a 20 mile round trip, I buy her groceries so she can stay on her diet (diabetic and kidney) and she has a refrigerator in her room. Fortunately she is "with it" enough to handle most things for herself. Now it is getting difficult to get her medicines (not the Home's fault, they all come from China and our Gov't is more interested in getting into fights with everyone than getting the supply lines working). I am still holding down the home place, but can see that isn't going to last more than a couple more years.

Billions. My mom bought me a $100 visa gift card for Xmas this last year. It’s inside a cardboard sleeve. The card number 100% is inaccessible unless sleeve is opened. When I got the card and opened the factory seal I looked at card number and it was manually scrapped off like someone had dug into the numbers. Had to wait 30 days for a new one, not to mention the sketchy website and customer service they provide. Called number on back of card which also matched the sleeve… regardless I would stay away from gift cards.

I have a small home which helps, I also had new windows installed taking out the old original ones when I moved in For heating and air I have 3 mini-splits. One in the living/ kitchen area, one in the main bedroom and one in the spare bedroom. In the winter I have the spare bedroom and living room units running at night (want to make sure pipes don’t burst. I like the bedroom cold. In summer I rarely have the AC in the living room and spare room on, but run the AC in my bedroom at night. It helps too that I live in the mountains and mornings and evenings are cooler. I love my mini-splits and will replace them when they need to be replaced. I also have a gas fireplace to take chill off the house in the winter.

Clark, I am 79 and I am invested in stocks in Asia, Europe, North America and South America. By myself, I have invested in over 130 diversified stocks since the 1990s. I am invested for the long term since I intend to give my stocks to my children. I use only the dividends to buy more stock. I invest in things ranging from REIT, bulk shipping, EVs, EVTOLs, Green Energy creation, and storage ,etc. I also like to gamble on Futuristic type "start-ups". I have a pension and since I now use the only the "house's money(dividends) at the Wall Street Casino", I enjoy the gambling. BTW, I am up about 75% as of today. I have been up much higher and also much lower over the years. I only gamble on what I can afford to to lose totally. I consider my investing as a "night out on the town". It was lots of fun but I have nothing the next day. But I at least enjoyed the time as the money was well spent because it gave me "Happiness" and no regrets. Gambling is fun if you don't have to depend on the winnings to maintain your quality of life. P.S. My wife gambles in the real casinos. She gambles enough so as to get perks from the casinos. So far over the years, she has lost more than she has won. But at least for me , "happy wife, happy life".

For my entire life I have been hearing about how people should participate in global investments. In my experience, the US has always been the best place to invest, with the best accounting rules and with companies who act responsibly in the interest of the shareholders. Outside of US (Including Canada), not so much. Mr. Howard's advice is very solid and applicable to most normal people. Here in the US, we have a lot of problems, but NEVER BET AGAINST AMERICA! Everywhere else is worse.

He is alluding to the issue, but he doesn’t give any real guidance on what horizon you should be looking at. If you don’t need the money for 10 or more years stay the course. If you are starting a distribution phase and you are not way overfunded, the strategy needs to change.

ok please know what your saying...the average CC processing fee in the USA is 1.4-1.75% for MC and Visa. On average 2% for Amex because their cardmembers are usually high spenders and quality clientele. Only the dumb retailers that use square pay more because it comes with the terminal and the simplicity. Thats a fair charge for convenience and merchants pass on the charge in the Cost of Goods sold AND get to write it off as a Business Expense labeled "bank fees" .

One nice thing about owning individual stocks in a taxable brokerage account. Is tax loss harvesting in which you offset stocks that have a capital gain with stocks that have a capital loss. Being in the 12% US federal tax bracket my qualified dividends are taxed at 0% and long-term capital gains which is 12 months or longer are taxed at 0% Federal ordinary income state of Georgia. I try to keep my capital gains to a minimum in order to pay very little state income tax.

It's easy using plastic cards. But it is so hard to pay them. When emergency comes. True you can use the credit cards. I like using my credit cards because I earned rewards. But I hate debts. Once you make mistakes of you cannot pay anymore. Here comes a more rip off Debt relief That charges outrageous fees each time they pay them debt collectors. Many who made $100,000 but have $30,000 in debts credit cards And have 401k savings I think they are worse Than the ones who made $50,000 But have $45,000 in credit cards debts. THAT IS THE FACT IN USA since I lived in USA I have no debt collection. My husband got sued by the debt collectors. But I fired the debt relief For 8 months he was paying $354.00 Cordoba the name of the company and chargjng him $200 fees for each debt collection payment transaction my husband have 6 credit cards debts. After firing the Cordoba. I was able to paid off his 3 debts collectors. Now he have 3 more credits cards. And free fees to me. Just trying to clean his debts with the debts collectors. But I hate them debts. ALL I CAN SAY IS NEVER HAVE CREDIT CARDS IF YOU CANNOT PAY THEM AT ALL. AND NEVER WITHDRAW CASH WITH CREDIT CARDS IT WILL KILL YOU THE INTEREST RATES. I TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT. BUT HE WON'T LISTEN. I ALSO TOLD HIM. IF HE APPLY AGAIN CREDIT CARDS I WANT DIVORCE BECAUSE HE WILL DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN NOW HE OWED CREDIT CARDS DEBTS AND AUTO LOAN A TOTAL ALMOST $45,000 HE ONLY MAKE $21 AN HOUR AND $1400.00 EVERY TWO WEEKS I WON'T HELP HIM AGAIN👈 Because I hate debts.

Clark, another groundbreaking video-thank you for keeping the flame of consumer advocacy burning bright! On the topic of the new credit card legislation which you support, it’s important to spotlight the potential disappearance of rewards and the freedom for new issuers to impose discriminatory fees on premium travel rewards cards due to exorbitant merchant fees. This raises a big question: why inflate everyday card usage with unnecessary SkyMiles and bonus points? We need a catchy term for this unnecessary fluff-perhaps it's a classic case of 'scanflation', where monopoly practices intertwine with the fluctuations of inflation or deflation. Our concern extends to the new charging standards, which could allow monopolies to impose fluff charges that are nearly impossible to recoup when they decide to change system percentages. This was vividly depicted in our latest video, showcasing how system malfunctions lead to overcharging, pushing employees to promote credit non-stop, and turning every transaction into a stressful negotiation between customers and store workers. Our Stop Scanflation campaign is all about advocating for a clean, transparent pricing and charging system-not the chaos currently witnessed. Thanks again, Clark, for your invaluable insights and relentless advocacy. Todd B.
